The Myth

The articles on this site describe patterns: burnout, compulsion, the pull of the phone at 6 AM, the feeling that rest keeps getting deferred. These patterns are real. The mythology asks what happens if they are not accidental.

In Chicago, there are figures who eat what you are too tired to protect. They have been here longer than the city. They do not hide. Most people just never look at them directly.

The story unfolds in arcs. The first follows people who start noticing things they were not supposed to see. Each chapter is self-contained enough to read on its own, but the mythology builds.

If the articles on this site are the diagnosis, the fiction is the origin story. Same questions, different rules.
